Here is a reason why you need to donate to help children in Africa. Did you know that nearly half of Africa’s children live in extreme poverty? with about 50% in Sub-Saharan Africa surviving on less than $1.90 per day. This dire situation forces millions of children to endure hunger, sickness, fear, and hopelessness daily.
Beyond statistics, it’s a devastating cycle of deprivation that robs them of the chance to grow, learn, and dream, perpetuating generational poverty. These children face sleepless nights of despair, struggling to survive instead of thriving. Addressing this crisis is vital to restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity to Africa’s most vulnerable population.
It’s upon this premise that Mumzy Child Relief Foundation (MumzyCRF) has committed itself to making a transformative impact in Africa. Through targeted interventions that focus on alleviating child poverty, providing education, healthcare, and sustainable solutions, we aim to break the cycle of poverty in its various forms.
Our programs prioritize equipping children and families with the resources and skills needed to thrive, creating pathways for a brighter, self-sufficient future. By empowering communities and fostering resilience, MumzyCRF ensures that hope is not just restored but sustained for Africa’s children, giving them the chance to dream and achieve their full potential.
This is a noble yet gigantic commitment, and the Mumzy Child Relief Foundation cannot achieve it alone. We rely on your support through generous donations to realize this noble mission of creating hope where there was none and rekindling prospects for a brighter future for Africa’s most vulnerable communities.

Overview of Child Poverty in Africa
Child poverty in Africa is a pressing issue with profound implications for the continent’s future. As of recent estimates, approximately 305 million children in Africa are projected to live in extreme poverty by 2030, accounting for over 55% of the world’s total child poverty. This situation is exacerbated by a combination of slow economic growth, demographic pressures, and inadequate policy responses from governments and international organizations.
The Scope of Child Poverty
The challenges faced by these children include;
- Malnutrition and Health Issues: A significant number of children suffer from malnutrition, with one in four experiencing wasting, a severe form of malnutrition that can lead to long-term health issues.
- Lack of Access to Education: Poverty severely limits educational opportunities. Children from impoverished backgrounds often drop out of school to support their families, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.
- Inadequate Living Conditions: Many children lack access to basic necessities such as clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. Approximately 200 million people in Africa practice open defecation due to inadequate sanitation facilities.
Global Response
In response, several humanitarian agencies have implemented various mitigation measures, which have provided some relief. However, the scale of this crisis demands far greater efforts than those currently undertaken by global organizations like UNICEF and World Vision.
Recognizing this urgent need, Mumzy Child Relief Foundation (MumzyCRF) was established to bridge the gap and bring targeted, sustainable solutions to the forefront.
We hope to cover as much ground as possible in Africa, but currently, Mumzy CRF’s operations are mainly in Cameroon and Kenya.
Child poverty remains a pressing issue in Cameroon and Kenya and is driven by unique but overlapping challenges. In Cameroon, rural areas bear the brunt of economic instability, with limited job opportunities and low wages keeping families in poverty. Education disparities, exacerbated by underfunding and high dropout rates, particularly among girls, further hinder progress.
Kenya, despite economic advancements, struggles with urban poverty, as rapid urbanization has led to sprawling informal settlements. Children in these areas face violence, exploitation, and limited access to education. Health crises like malaria and HIV/AIDS compound the issue, draining household incomes and increasing medical costs. Addressing child poverty in these nations requires targeted strategies to improve education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
The Universal Philosophy of Giving: Supporting Vulnerable Children
The principle of giving to the poor is a universal value, transcending religious, cultural, and philosophical boundaries. Across diverse traditions, the act of supporting those in need is viewed as a moral imperative, deeply woven into the fabric of human ethics. Consider these teachings:
Religion / Philosophy | Quote or Principle on Giving |
Christianity | If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD— and he will repay you! – Proverbs 19:17 |
Muslims | The righteous are those who give food to the needy and orphans – Surah Al-Insan (76:8-10) ( Paraphrased ) |
Buddhism | “If you knew what I know about the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way.” – Buddha (Dhammapada 223) |
Hinduism | “There is no greater duty than giving to others. Giving should be done with a pure heart and without expectation of reward.” – Bhagavad Gita 17.20-22 |
Judaism | If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, within any of your gates in the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand.” – Deuteronomy 15:7 |
Sikhism | “The hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray.” – Guru Nanak |
Taoism | A good man is a source of good. If you have much, share much. If you have little, share little.” – Tao Te Ching, Chapter 81 |
Secular Humanism | The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well-being becomes.” –secular humanism) |
These quotes and principles from different religious traditions highlight a common emphasis on giving to others, whether through charity, selfless service, or compassion. Atheism, while not adhering to a religious doctrine, often values human well-being and the practice of kindness, echoing sentiments of altruism and communal responsibility.
